Qualitative analysis of incidents of crowd violence in West Bengal from January-July 2019 - Social Action - 73(2), Apr-Jun, 2023: p.150-162

Bengal suffered widespread acts of crowd violence, particularly from January to July 2019, which negatively impacted the lives of ordinary citizens. The current study investigated 466 episodes of cord gatherings, collected from print media, social media, and previous literature to understand these occurrence. In terms of the origin of crowd violence, how it grew, and what tactics were violent and these were either collared by a leader or their party or spontaneous gatherings of individuals in 32 per cent of the gatherings, the crowd dispersed peacefully without engaging in any violence. – Reproduced
