Factors influencing women entrepreneurship in Bihar - Bihar Journal of Public Administration - 20(2 S), Jul-Dec, 2023: p.649-662
Promoting women entrepreneurship might prove as an effective tool to empower women in the country. For this, the government has launched several schemes to encourage entrepreneurial activities among women, especially in a region with low socio-economic condition such as Bihar. But, in spite of such steps, the footprint of women in the area of entrepreneurship is very limited in this 21st Century society. Hence, there is need to understand various aspects related to growth of women entrepreneurship in India, especially with a regional approach of study. Therefore, this research paper is an attempt to study various factors that play leading role in promoting or hindering women participation in entrepreneurial activities in Bihar which is based on primary data collected through survey. This study concludes that women entrepreneurship are mainly affected by five critical factors i.e., personality traits, social prejudice and prestige, financial autonomy, job discontentment, and external support and assistance. In addition to this, financial issues along with lack of education and experiences are the perceived major challenges being faced by women in Bihar during their entrepreneurial journey. Reproduced
