Institutions of higher education in Bihar have been under the radar of critics for its discouraging performance. These deteriorate gradually since then, evident from the lower ranking of universities/colleges of Bihar in comparison to that of all India institutions in Bihar had earned glory during the decades from 1960s to 1980s. But their performance began to. The situation irks a person in the helm of administration of institutions of higher education in Bihar to assess the problems and explore the solutions. As such, the present note underlines the issues, challenges and prospects of reforms in these institutions in Bihar, particularly, in the context of administrative mechanism, maintaining punctuality of academic sessions, quality of teaching and research students’ progression and support and academic environment of campus in universities/colleges. – Reproduced
