Professionalising public administration education in India - 2008 - p.236-254. - Apr-Jun

Owing to the generalist career system, it was felt that there was no justification for professionalisation of public administration education in India. The curriculum at most of the universities has not been able to keep pace with needs of modern times, and is predominantly theory oriented. the main thrust of the argument presented in this article thus is that Indian universities and colleges need to develop professional schools of public administration along the same lines as the schools of management, and social work. In regard to the existing departments of public administration in the universities and colleges it must be emphasised that they need to go through a major restructuring of their syllabi, methodology of reaching and must engage in thoroughly revitalizing their existing faculties. - Reproduced.
