The construction of large dams is not desirable in India from the viewpoint of the original land owners, especially the tribals in remote areas who are the ultimate losers, whereas, upper crest industrialists, rich farmers (interested in cash crops) as well as urban water and electricity consumers corner most of the benefits of dams.
