| Summary, etc. |
In view of the rapid population growth during the last four decades and resulting economic problems and social tensions, various welfare programmes are gaining momentum in developing countries. Government of such countries take various measures to uplift the social structure with a particular focus on rural population. India is a country with a high degree of diversity in social and economic spheres. Although there exist wide gaps between the rural and the urban areas, within the rural areas, there are notabale differences in the levels of living standards as measured by various socio-economic indicators. Statistical analysis confirmed these differences and the methods of unifying the administration are analysed. - Reproduced |
