Summary, etc. Transparency and peoples participation in regulatory and developmental administration is very crucial not only in bridging the gap between the administration and the public but also in nation building by way of reducing the corruption and complaints against the system. Further it helps the people to understand the limitation of the administration at different levels. In this endeavour of good governance the Gossaigaon Sub-Divisional administration has started a right to information campaign by involving the people especially self help women thrift and credit groups through capacity building in different spheres of administration. In Public Distribution System, Fair Shop level Women Vigilance Committees have been formed, trained and empowered to check the stock and different registers facilitating social audit. Similarly in Mid-day-Meal Distribution, Public Committees have been formed at each school which helped in dramatic reduction in the complaints in the system. In rural development leaflets detailing all the developmental schemes that are being taken up in each village, along with other details viz., money, executing agency, grievance redressal agency, etc, are made available freely and distributed in the villages and set up vigilance committees for social audit. Similarly transparency measures have been taken up in the successful implementation of National Social Assistance Schemes, Public Health and in others successfully with peoples' participation. - Reproduced
