Summary, etc. Keeping in view rapid increase in the nature, volume, range and diversity of welfare activities going beyond public and private sectors, the author finds that the NGOs have truly not emerged as the third ombibus sector of socio-economic development in India. He, therefore, suggests a positive conceptual correction to name these agencies as `Associate Government Organisations' (AGOs) (in place of NGOs) with an advice that the AGOs should associate with government in their work rather than opposing the services of government. - Reproduced
