520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Since late 1970s, New Public Management (NPM) has become a dominant theme in the restructuring of the public sector in both developed and developing countries. Bangladesh is no exception. Of late, the Bangladesh government has decided to embark on the market-based public administration reform. This article is an attempt to analyse the problems of implementing the NPM in Bangladesh. It argues that, on account of the current political, economic, social and administrative realities, it will be extremely difficult to implement such a radical reform package in Bangladesh. - Reproduced
