It means equal treatment and equitable value of the sexes. It is often used with reference to emancipatory projects that promote women's rights through legal changes and women's interests in social and economic policy. The property right of women is one such cornerstone which has always been at the point of reference whenever emancipation of women is discussed. One such field is law of succession or law of inheritance. This paper is a humble attempt to simplify a comparative overview of inheritance rights of women under Islamic Law and customary law which dominated the inheritance matters in J and K. – Reproduced
