Summary, etc The study attempted to find out the relationship of perceived control with organizational commitment and to examine the impact of perceived control over the organizational commitment of police personnel. A total of 240 male police personnel (officers, sub-inspectors, and constables) were randomly selected from various police stations of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Background information was assessed by personal data sheet whereas perceived control of police employees was determined by perceived control scale. An organizational commitment scale was used to assess the level of commitment in police employees. Data were analyzed with the help of correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The correlation coefficient indicated that perceived control was found linked with organizational commitment. Specifically, perceived control was found significantly positively linked with affective commitment further, positive but low correlations were found between perceived control and other domain of commitment (continuance and normative) as well as an overall commitment. Regression results also indicated that perceived control contributed positively to affective commitment. But Continuance and normative commitment were not significantly predicted by perceived control. – Reproduced
