While COVID-19 and its variants have more or less changed the rhythm of our lives, we have entered the third decade of the twenty-first century, and now seems a good time to take stock. Despite some setbacks, such as the closure of sociology departments in different places of the world, sociology has never been as prolific and influential as now. We sociologists like to view ourselves as one community, but how healthy is sociology? How much progress has been achieved in this collective enterprise? What has been missed? What can we expect in the coming years and decades? Beginning in this issue, the International Sociology Reviews will publish a series of essays that critically review some of the most important books in different research areas since 2000. In the inaugural essay, Professor Joya Misra and her collaborators review six key books published in transnational feminist sociology. We plan to publish many more essays in the forthcoming issues and hope you will join us. If you feel strongly about a research area, or even the entire discipline, please feel free to contact me with your proposal. – Reproduced |
