Summary, etc Police administration in India has introduced the drone technology as their latest technical surveillance tool. Police forces use drones for global objectives, such as border monitoring, criminal investigation, disaster management, traffic control, and more. This technology is conducive to fast police operations and cost-effective too. But it involves the issue of constitutional right to privacy and freedom of individuals as drones cannot differentiate the categories of individuals while it is in the air. Further, the policy of the use of drones also involves legal issues. As such, the present paper intends to examine the policing by drones, concerned laws (rules and regulations) and the citizen’s right to privacy vis-a-vis the inception of
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAVs) in discharging police duties and responsibilities. The paper is based on secondary sources of data collection. The paper finds that this innovative step is useful in policing, but there should be the legal restrictions in favour of protecting citizens’ rights.
