520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc Despite widespread acknowledgement that India’s economy has emerged stronger from the shock of the Covid-19 pandemic and that it is clearly outperforming the rest of the world, the country continues to do poorly on various global indices. This is especially true of opinion-based perception indices on subjective topics like democracy, freedom and happiness. While many of them are obviously biased and laughably distorted, India should not ignore them and simply brush them off as irrelevant. Directly or indirectly, many of these indices have concrete impacton our economy and global standing. This paper illustrates the issue through a handful of global indices and suggests definite steps that may be considered by the government. – Reproduced
