Summary, etc It is imperative to evaluate the training courses for which various procedures are practised. Training courses were largely conducted with a set of objectives determined through Training Need Analysis (TNA). Evaluation of Training (EoT) courses are carried out to elucidate the achievement of training objectives and benefit of training to Client Organisation (CO). The Paper presents the prevailing EoT methods, their relevance in the current context and proposes a holistic evaluation methodology to assess the efficacy of training courses. Apart from discussing the concepts and principles of suggested EoT method a model is suggested to enable applicability of the suggested evaluation approach. Data generation, processing procedures and applicability in assessing the training functions at different levels are elaborated. Various EoT tool kits including EoT matrix, Stakeholder Analysis (SA) and Responsibility Mapping (RM) are used to gather and analyse the information for evaluating the training. The deficiencies in most of the trainings are noticed with regards to evaluation largely pertaining to P-2 cell of the EoT matrix. The study suggests applying various formative and summative assessment tools to ensure full achievement of the training objectives. These include pre-and post-training tests, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) tests. Independent hands-on tests in simulated work environment are advocated to facilitate transfer of learning. A numerical Trainee’s feedback pattern is presented for impartial evaluation of entire training activity. An assessment package designed in MS Excel is proposed for accurate and impartial assessment. It has few interlinked worksheets for entering the trainees’ response and obtaining total score of all the trainees for the tests conducted. It also exhibits the gain in level of Knowledge and Skill (K&S) and facilitates criteria based assessment. This package can be applied to ensure achievement of Training Objectives (TO) which, in turn, motivate trainees in enhancing their on-job performance. – Reproduced
