Summary, etc The bilateral relationship between India and France is standing rock- solid on a strong and unshakable foundation. The foundation is built on a convergence of fundamental values that both India and France
cherish the values of democracy, freedom, equality, liberty, respect
for human rights, and the rule of law. Both India and France are
culturally diverse, multicultural as well as functional and vibrant
democracies that believe in protecting and proliferating the
fundamental values of historical civilizations. The relationship
between India and France is very special, close, warm, and
multifaceted. The warmth and depth of the relationship between India
and France were evident in the visit of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi to France on the official invitation to be the Guest of Honour
for the Bastille Day Parade in July 2023.
This essay analyses the contours and significance of the bilateral
engagement between India and France. Building upon the latest state
visit by the Indian Prime Minister, the essay establishes the historical
significance of the Bastille Day Parade for France. It maps the sectors
and areas in which India and France have cooperation, and analyses
the strength of the collaboration. Finally, the essay analyses how
India and France — two important players in global politics — gain
strength from each other’s support, and the need for India and France
to enhance their partnership to the next level in the future. Reproduced
