| Summary, etc | Maulana Hasrat Mohani is remembered as a renowned Urdu poet, freedom fighter and politically eclectic leader. While shifting party and political affiliations, he remained committed to the struggle for Indian independence and will be remembered for coining two slogans—“Inquilab Zindabad,” and “Poorna Swaraj.” Owing to his shifting associations, he remained far less known than his contemporaries in terms of his role in the freedom struggle. He dissociated from the Muslim League, which he had joined after having ties with the Congress and the communist party. The article examines his specific interventions during the Constituent Assembly debates. – Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2025/15/perspectives/politics-and-ideas-maulana-hasrat-mohani.html |
