| Summary, etc | Manipur was abruptly brought under the Inner Line Permit System in 2020, bartering it with the cacophonic local agitation against the then controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. But the juxtaposition of ILPS with the controversial National Register of Citizens caused a lurking fear among the minority communities of Manipur. This article revisits the ILPS movement and its implementation in Manipur, thereby highlighting the perceived impacts on the indigenous minority communities, particularly the Pangals of Manipur. – Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2025/17/commentary/ilps-manipur-and-its-impact-minority-communities.html |
