Summary, etc The study addresses that why caste and occupation interlinked in India specially in sanitation work. The Valmiki community known for its work of Safai Karamchari. Present study is an attempt to understand the struggle of these people for dignity and respect in the society. An attempt has been made to understand why sanitation work is not considered good and the people who are doing cleaning work are considered very grimy or untouchables. The fundings of this study shows that skill Scheduled Caste peoples(especially Valmiki) perform this work. However, they are still expecting good behaviour and respect from the society. The mortality rate of a manual scavenger, however, is far higher than the general mortality rate. The workers of sanitation not have their rights to safe and healthy working condition. They are forced to work in conditions that endanger their health and even their lives. Our effective mechanized system and skilled technology can improve the condition of sanitation workers, otherwise they are sacrifice their job and life for the society. - Reproduced
