This article is an attempt to analyse whether pacific Island countries are trying to balance between the Chinese and the United States(US) interests in the South Pacific region. It looks at the Chinese attempts to attract South Pacific countries and the Chinese actions to ascertain its interests in the region. Since the region consists of 13 countries and the dynamics between each country with the two global powers are evolving , the article takes up the relations between Papua New Guinea(PNG) with the US and China as a case study. |
