| Summary, etc | The effectiveness of global framework agreements signed between global unions and multinationals has come into question. In the Indian context, the evidence suggests that these agreements often fail to achieve meaningful outcomes due to poor implementation of the agreements at the local level. These agreements are more likely to be effective when rooted in broader mobilisation by local workers. Moreover, their implementation tends to vary depending on whether they apply to multinationals’ branches/subsidiaries or the manufacturers/suppliers of lead firms.- Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2025/50/commentary/why-are-global-framework-agreements-difficult.html |
