520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Against the backdrop of the ongoing information and communication technology (ICT) boom in the Indian economy, this paper makes an attempt towards understanding its macro economic implications with focus on product market and labour market. Such an analysis assumes importance in the context wherein the slowdown in the general industrial production and export growth since the mid 1990s has been attributed to the ICT export induced real appreciation. Drawing from the implications of ICT boom on the labour market, the paper also critically looks at the present strategy towards manpower development. - Reproduced.
