Summary, etc This study examines the trends in the progress and performance of India’s horticulture sector and evaluates its impact on farmers’ incomes. The analysis suggests that higher returns from horticulture, relative to field crops, have been a key driver of its expansion. The findings indicate that the sector has exhibited robust growth over time, with positive implications for farmers’ economic well-being. Farmers’ participation in horticultural cultivation is associated with an increase in farmers’ incomes of about 19%. To sustain and enhance agricultural growth, policymakers need to invest in the requisite infrastructure to facilitate diversification towards horticultural crops. –Reproduced
