A large number of NGOs function in the State of Kerala with wide ranging objectives and areas of service. The article gives an indepth look into the origin of these organisations, their programmes and activities and geographical distribution. One thing that emerges common to most of these organisations is their near total dependence for finances on State and Central governments.
