Environmental economics uses economic analysis to investigate problems and develop policies regarding our environment. Environmental problems arise out of scarcity of resources in terms of clean air, clean water, wilderness, etc. So, economists have to find some solutions through their research endeavours. The importance of research in environmental economics is gaining ground throughout the world due to unsustainability of life support system. This article deals with various research issues in environmental economics. However since the research in environmental economics is at the infancy stage in a country like India the identification of various research issues and research gaps deserves special mention in this article. - Reproduced. |
