Summary, etc. The paper examines the movement of global disparitiesin the levels of development for 1975-2003. Three indicators of development (Per capita National Income, Per Capita GDP - PPP$, and Human Development Index) are deployed for the purpose. The magnitude of inequalities in the levels of development, at different points of time, is gauged through the Gini-Lorenz ratio. The movement in the pattern of inequalities is studied by using Lorenz Dominance. The method helps us in checking not only the level of statistical significance of the shift, if any, but also indicates the deciles responsible for the shift. It is concluded that the trend of increasing income inequalities persists and the decline in global disparitis in the levels of Human Development has slowed down after the onset of globalization. - Reproduced.
