Journal of Rural DevelopmentSummary: Abstract: Author has made a comparative study of the cost-effectiveness of some of the most frequently opted/sanctioned schemes under IRDP in Haryana. These includes milch animals scheme, village crafts scheme, animal driven carts scheme and petty shops scheme. The ivestigation show that interms of cost-effectiveness milch animal scheme is superior to other benefit schemes and should be treated as the most important component of the anti-poverty scheme in Haryana. Secondly, no consideration should be given to the economic level of poor beneficiaries in assigning milch animal scheme and thirdly, the DRDAs in Haryana should evolve more efficient project management techniques in order to ensure proper impleme
