Disaster Prevention and Management: an International JournalSummary: This article presents the status of public policy on title's matters and makes recommendation thereto. Describes Greek law and practice combating ship fires. Also "best practices" are identified with regard to preventing and suppressing fires on ships. Ship fires are thought to be by the authors an important topic. The authors also believe that an equally important, but neglected topic, is the protection of the port sea environment. This problem made the ESPO (European Sea Ports Organisation) produce a code of practice for protecting port environments and DG VII to support that. But are these sufficient for the protection of ports and ships? - Reproduced
