Social ChangeSummary: An analysis of the census data related to socio-demographic characteristics of the districts of Madhya Pradesh according to their tribal concentration has been carried out. It has been observed that in the districts with high tribal concentration the sex ratio and growth rate remained constant over the last 30 years. The pace of urbanisation and literacy has been lower in these districts compared to the state of Madhya Pradesh and other districts. the population in the tribal districts has been found `young' as compared to that in other districts.
