This article addresses the history and work of the Ombudsman in Tonga from the time of being a Commissioner for Public Relations through to now being an Office similar to Ombudsman offices in other countries. It addresses the Office’s functions and responses to performance, leading to an appreciation of various challenges in need of ongoing attention.
