In this paper, the importance of quality concepts in product development is studied by reviewing several papers from various reputed journals. In order to improve the quality of product design, QFD (Quality Function Deployment) is used as a tool that studies the various parameters of product design such as aesthetic appeal, cost, service life, maintenance, etc. In QFD, the analysis is carried out to improve the quality of the product design based on customer's evaluation. The use of QFD helps the product development management team to take decisions about the product quality by studying and improving its characteristics. In every organization, there will be a cross functional team, which comprises of Design, Safety, Quality and Maintenance. With the help of the cross functional team member's suggestions, it will be possible to improve the safety, design and aesthetic appeal of a product. Hence, in this paper, an attempt has been made to study and review various characteristics of product design and development, namely QFD model and also report several case studies in different domains of industrial applications. – Reproduced
