It is clear that the growth in employment opportunities has a strong influence to reduce the extent of urban poverty. This paper looks into the profile of economic activities of urban poor to measure the extent of urban poverty at household level. It covers the areas such as employment status, category of workers, monthly earnings and determinants of income of urban poor households in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. – Reproduced
