The present study analyses the impact assessment of groundnut variety released by Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Maharashtra by using varietal status, economic impact, growth rate of area, production and productivity of groundnut. The data on area, production and productivity of groundnut for Maharashtra and India was collected from the government website for the year 1990-91 to 2019-20. In the study it revealed that Maharashtra ranks 6th in area and 8th in production and productivity of groundnut in India. Gujarat stood first in area and production of groundnut. The area and production of groundnut decreased at a rate of 2.70 percent and 2.28 percent per annum, respectively, while the productivity was stagnant during the study period. The total economic worthiness of university released groundnut production technology over other competing varieties of groundnut in the region was Rs. 16186.27 per hectare. The total economic impact to the farming community was estimated to Rs. 23.44 crores for the year 2019-20.The area under university released groundnut varieties for the year 2019-20 was 17564.85 ha. Hence, gross and net economic impact of university released groundnut varieties were Rs. 2174.22 crores and Rs. 223.40 crores, respectively. – Reproduced
