The Government of India made a decisive intervention to reform the criminal justice system, in 2022, after 100
years of its criminal legal framework being introduced by the colonial masters. The new Criminal Procedure
(Identification) Bill, 2022 will not only aim at decolonisation of the Indian judiciary but also rebooting it by updating with technological innovations and professionalisation of legal agencies. Government must continue to
reform the judiciary in order to make it more accessible and affordable to every citizen in the country. Thus, the
judiciary should address the contemporary needs and aspirations of the people. - Reproduced
