Journal of Social and Economic DevelopmentSummary: This volume includes lectures delivered by eminent agricultural economists on the issues confronted in the agricultural sector in India. These lectures were delivered under the Professor L S Venkataramanan (fondly known as LSV) memorial lecture series at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore. The initiative began with the efforts of Professor Vinod Vyasulu in 1993, with a few friends of LSV across the world, and a small corpus was created. These lectures span over 27 years from 1993 to 2020 and cover a time series of the concurrent issues as viewed by persons of eminence in the subjects. Professor D Rajasekhar (Professor and Director, ISEC) and Professor Meenakshi Rajeev (Professor at ISEC) decided to bring these together in the Golden Jubilee Volume of the Journal of Social and Economic Development in the form of a special issue. This issue provides a mosaic of the various important problems of the agricultural sector of India. – Reproduced
