Bihar Journal of Public AdministrationSummary: Environmental degradation has devastatingly alarmed about the danger for the human life on one hand and intention of developing countries to adopt faster economic growth on the other. Every step for development have gone hostile to the environmental equilibrium. As such, a movement for sustainable development began at global level since 1980s and the latest move has been made by the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2015. The governmental efforts to achieve SDGs face the challenges, most striking of them is ‘lack of awareness among people’. In this context it is argued that students shall be the most potential mode of media to spread awareness widely. Scholarship on the issue has been pleading to introduce the environmental education in syllabus at the levels of schools and colleges. We posit that in this globalized world and growing consumerism, the students of management must be aware of ‘green economy’ (emphasis on sustaining environment in the economic activities) for achieving SDGs. Further, it examines the significance of integrating sustainability principles into curricular and the potential long-term impact on students’ attitudes and behaviors which will help them to be aware and have more knowledge on the issue. It is also assumed that the young students will be more effective tool of spreading awareness among the people than any other media. An empirical enquiry of management students (both from MBA and BBA courses) of the colleges situated in Patna, Bihar was conducted to ascertain their opinion and perception on environmental degradation and understanding about green economy. – Reproduced
