Material type: materialTypeLabelBookPublisher: Bihar Journal of Public Administration Description: 20(2), Jul-Dec, 2023: p.343-354. In: Bihar Journal of Public AdministrationSummary: Representative politics is the soul of Indian constitution, but it has been neglected in practice. The emergence of globalisation and neo-liberal economy has added to it a new aspect. The process of marginalisation is deeply ingrained in our everyday political practice. Consequently, the question of gender inequality is important which raises significant questions. Therefore, it is very important to examine and understand in a critical manner. The present paper is an attempt to understand the significance of gender-role in politics. The feminist researchers set about to build up a new paradigm, where critics pointed out flaws of the state and politics, which undermined gender equality in favour of men. Under this present framework, the study analyses women representation and factors responsible for their role in decision-making in Odisha politics. With the analysis of election results from 1952 to 2014, it has been tried to examine and discuss why women have been poorly represented in the democratic politics and electoral system. Also, it will focus on the persistent class-caste domination in Odisha politics over the years.- Reproduced http://www.iipabiharbranch.org/
