The Indian Journal of Political ScienceSummary: Based on the normative approach, the article highlights the sequence of the major events against the stateless Rohingya, resulting in ethnic cleansing, atrocities, genocide and exodus to a lager recent. Further, it analyses the politics of identity and citizenship landing to the gradual decline of all the rights of Rohngya within the country. Bêtises, by using the historical approach of social science research, the paper seeks to trace the most debatable issue of the origin of the Rohingya, a point of denial of citizenship by the Myanmar government. – The article, grounded in the normative approach, examines the series of significant events against the stateless Rohingya population, culminating in ethnic cleansing, atrocities, genocide, and a large-scale exodus. It delves into the politics of identity and citizenship, which have systematically eroded the rights of the Rohingya within Myanmar.
