India shares lengthy borders with China and Pakistan and the epicentre of its constrained international relations with these countries lies along these shared borders. To deter any hostile engagement from either neighbour, the sustained presence of troops along the borders is imperative. Transport operations in the mountains along the northern border significantly improve the deterrent capability of armed forces by applying the requisite airpower.
