Urban studies meticulously examine the dynamic interactions between residents and their surrounding environments, encompassing both man-made structures and natural landscapes. These interactions are pivotal, as the emotional connection and sense of pride, individuals foster towards their environment can significantly vary across different locales. This correlation underscores the importance of active involvement and engagement within one’s neighbourhood, suggesting that pride is cultivated through a multifaceted relationship with the community. This paper focuses on residents’ sense of pride and presents the comparative analysis of two neighbourhoods in Pune, distinguished by their distinct spatial configurations, social fabric, historical narratives, and demographic profiles. Through this study the intricate linkages between the psycho-social need of ‘Sense of Pride’ in neighbourhoods and the various socio-spatial factors that underpin this emotion were identified.- Reproduced
