Student satisfaction and perceived effectiveness of online learning among undergraduate students in the University of Delhi

Many colleges and universities have had to make significant changes to adapt to the new reality brought about by the pandemic and had to move online. In this post-pandemic period too, many students are opting for online courses while seeking higher quality learning that is individualized, flexible, and humanistic. As online learning becomes more prevalent in higher education, it is crucial to study student satisfaction as a key factor in assessing the longterm success of this mode of education. Identifying the qualities necessary for student satisfaction and achievement in an elearning environment is also essential for maintaining the quality of online education as it expands. This article presents a comprehensive overview of the online learning landscape among undergraduate students at Delhi University. The findings of this study, based on a meticulous primary survey, revealed that student interaction with peers and instructors has a significant impact on their satisfaction levels. Overall, students expressed high satisfaction with instruction clarity, organization, and availability of educational resources online. The role of the instructor and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure also emerged as vital factors affecting student satisfaction. A summated scale was used to assess overall student satisfaction with online learning.
