India's G-20 Presidency, the premier forum for global economic cooperation and policy guidelines, present opportunities and challenges. As a prominent voice of the developing world, India has an essential role in shaping the agenda of G-20 and ensuring that the interests of the South are protected. The present paper aims to analyse India's role as the champion of the Global South during its presidency of the G20. It mainly discusses the significant opportunities and obstacles facing India in advancing the interests of the South in the G-20. This Paper argues that India's G-20 presidency offers a unique opportunity for the developing world. However, the paper notes that India faces significant challenges in navigating the complex and often contentious issues on the G-20 agenda. The paper evaluates the academic literature, official statements, and policy initiatives to provide a comprehensive understanding of India as the leader of the Global South in the G20. The paper concludes with a series of policy recommendations for India to maximize opportunities and minimize the challenges of its G-20 presidency.
