The vision of any political order is underlined by its philosophy. International relations or politics has been traditionally been guided by the ideas and thinking of the western nation states, which has its basis in materialism. Hence, the thrust and emphasis has had been on national interest and power. However, the truth is that international politics or relations are governed by individual human beings. Traditionally, the Indian viewpoint has treated the human being, ultimately, as a soul. Therefore, this paper tries to bring into focus, the spiritual aspect of the concept of Vasudhaivakutumbkam. It goes on, further, to assert that in it lies the solution to all the problems confronting the world as only it can get rid the world of the evils of conflict and competition of the globalised world of today. - Reproduced
