The role of campaigning has been accepted as critical in shaping the outcomes of the elections, undeniably consequent of the voters' choices during the polls. Electoral campaigns make the voters build up their attitudes, preferences and minds. Voters are enabled by the campaigns to vote in line with their prior predispositions. The paper attempts to understand the transformation of the electorates that India is witnessing today. Consequent of which, the parties need to devise an effective campaign to seek votes rom such transformed demography. Under the ambit of various theories of campaigning, the paper compares the campaigns of both BJP and Congress. - Reproduced
