Oorukoottam, a tribal council in Kerala, exemplifies participatory development, playing a key role in identifying beneficiaries and shaping and implementing social protection schemes. While Oorukoottam has significantly contributed to tribal rights, community engagement and education, it faces challenges in areas such as government aids and schemes adapted to the modern lifestyles.
