Specifically in case of our country, there is no dearth of foodgrains, but there is lack of proper storage and warehousing faculties. Furthermore, India also faces a low percentage of capacity utilization (86.15%) of total installed capacity of the warehouses. The utilisation of the owned storage capacity has declined from 87.64 present to 84.4 percent while that of the hired has risen from 78.41 to 89.13 percent during the period 2000-01 to 2020-21. –Reproduced
