The 2023 Brahamapuram fire exposed structural deficiencies in Kerala’s solied waste management system, underscoring the need for decentralized, community based interventions. Within this context, the Haritha Karma Sena (HKS) functions as a key Institutional mechanism supporting local self government Institutions (LSGIs). This study examines the operational dynamics, Institutional support and challenges of the HKS unit in Amballur Panchayat. Ernakulum district, recognized as the best performing unit in the district,.
