Police JournalSummary: Public service is a non-profit activity. It caters to the requirements of upholding the principles of equality, unity and justice in the public domain. The people in India, slowly but steadily, are losing confidence in its public services. However, the public servants are more to be blamed for this state of affairs. In the present article, the values (personal and social), which make a public servant a highly successful and satisfied soul, have been emphasised. Three core values of confidence, commitment and communication make the foundations of a public service. Only those public servants, who steadfastly oppose and obliterate the four types of excuses pertaining to Jati (personal status or own community), Desh (place and habitation), Kala (age or time) and Samaya (circumstances), come out as shining and successful public figures. - Reproduced.
