Policy interventions both at the Central as well as state level have helped this critical area of infrastructure from an impending collapse. This article gives details of this intervention strategy which starting at the national level went upto state, board, distribution circle, feeder and consumer level. It lists the benchmarks that have been set for different levels and focuses upon the capacity building measures for sustaining the reforms. - Reproduced.
