Indian Journal of Labour EconomicsSummary: There are a number of reasons for correcting the measurement of the phenomenon of non-employment by using the most inclusive concept of unemployment, measured in terms of what is known as current daily status. Further, while recognizing the fact that all employed are not non-poor, the idea ignores the fact that all unemployed are not poor. This paper tries to correct the measure and create two versions of it to give expression to two notions given to the term in terms of unemployment and poverty. Finally, it refines the second version to take care of observations made regarding existence of the non-poor among the unemployed. - Reproduced.
